Seatoir was founded by a team of higher education software veterans. After building and scaling enterprise platforms that became category leaders in the academic technology space, we spent years in close conversation with registrars, provosts, and academic operations leaders across hundreds of institutions.
One problem kept surfacing in every conversation: seat optimization. Institutions were leaving thousands of seats empty every term — not because of low enrollment, but because of section imbalances, artificial capacity constraints, and outdated planning assumptions. Registrar teams knew the problem existed. They could feel it in their waitlists and see it in their spreadsheets. But they had no systematic way to quantify it, prioritize it, or act on it.
